The Fakeaway Chinese

Welcome back to the Busy Student Kitchen Blog!

Moving to University can mean missing out on those family Friday night takeaways. With the price of Uber Eats being unjustifiable as a regular payment for students, this recipe solves this issue and allows for a more nutritional substitute for a takeaway.

The Fakeaway Chinese is the perfect meal when you’re craving a takeaway, and it’s a lot healthier! This meal can also be adapted, as you can add in veggies or rice to bulk it out. However, just ‘as it is’ is the perfect dinner treat.

Utensils.

In this blog we understand the limited utensils and space that university students may have in their halls or flat. Luckily for you, this recipe only needs one pan and a sandwich bag (don’t worry, I’ll explain). It may also be of benefit to have a spatula and a spoon to mix the sauce but just use what you have on hand!

Jumping into the recipe:

Step 1: Pop your diced chicken into a sandwich bag and add in enough cornflour and paprika to coat your chicken. Start off small and keep adding, you can’t go overboard as it’s really a preference! Give your bag a shake to make sure your chicken is fully coated.

Step 2: Add your chicken to your pan on a ‘just above medium’ heat for around 12 minutes or until chicken is fully white all the way through.

Step 3: Turn down the heat and add in your sweet chilli sauce (as much as you like, remember to build it up), around 3 tablespoons of honey, and 2 tablespoons of soy sauce. Remember, once you have made this recipe a couple of times you can play around with the quantities to make your perfect taste.

Step 4: Plate up your food and enjoy!

I hope you loved this meal as much as I do!
